Bird feeders are an important addition to one's backyard.  This is especially true for people who are interested in attracting different bird species to their gardens.  For one to attract a larger number of birds to the garden, however, one would need to use many bird feeders.  Usually, this calls for a sizeable investment in the purchase of the feeders.  Fortunately, this does not have to amount to so much money since the market is awash with cheap bird feeders for sale.  To ensure one gets quality items that will fit well in the garden, it is advisable that one compares the different bird feeders for sale.

Bird feeder retailers provide information about the right feeder for the specific bird species that one wants to attract.  Some, on the other hand, will assume that one knows specifically what he or she wants when purchasing the bird feeder.  This, therefore, requires a person who intends to attract birds to his backyard to conduct research about the eating habits of the birds he is targeting.  From such knowledge, he will then be able to find out the ideal feeders for the birds.  Although the cost can be a factor when purchasing feeders, especially for a person on a tight budget, one should consider the ability of the cheap bird feeders to protect the feed from pests.

When choosing among the many bird feeders on sale in different stores, one has to consider the items ability to keep the feed dry and fresh.  Bird feeders on sale are usually in three basic designs: the tube feeders, hopper feeders and satellite feeders.  The hopper feeders are the most common.  They are designed like small barns.  The sides are made of translucent material, which allows the home owner to see the amount of feed remaining in the feeders.  The design of the hopper feeders allow birds of all sizes and weights to feed from them.  This type of bird feeders can be mounted on a pole or suspended.

Among the bird feeders on sale are the tube feeders.  These are usually made in long cylindrical designs, usually perches at the different feeding ports on the feeders.  The tube feeders are ideal for small bird species, which can perch comfortably on the short metallic perches.  A person looking for a way to keep the big birds away should ideally purchase such.  When one is making a selection of the tube feeders among the cheap bird feeders, he/she must ensure that the holes in the feeders are big enough to allow the birds to access the feed.

Satellite feeders are a bit more discriminatory to the bigger birds than the tube feeders.  They are cylindrical in shape and are usually suspended from above.  This makes them swing every time a bird lands on them.  Most big birds cannot withstand this but the small birds manage just well.  When scouting for cheaper bird feeders, it is recommendable that one looks for the bird feeders placed on sale because such tend to be cheaper.
